Firework Safety
If part of your Independence Day celebration includes fireworks, it’s important to be educated on firework safety. Roughly 10,00 people are injured annually from fireworks, with a high rate of those injuries being on children. Even sparklers, which seem pretty harmless, reach 1800 degrees Fahrenheit! This temperature is hot enough to melt gold!
Here are some tips to help out:
- Light fireworks outdoors in a clear area
- Always keep a bucket of water nearby
- NEVER try to relight or handle fireworks that don’t light (“duds”)
- Do not allow younger children to play with or light fireworks
- As soon as a firework is lit, immediately get away from the launch area
Enjoy your upcoming holiday weekend and STAY SAFE!
